The Fixed Operations Manager will assist the parts and service departments with their operations. This position is responsible for the reputation, efficiency, and profitability of these departments. The term “fixed” means these departments are independent of vehicle sales. The Fixed Operations Manager is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not in order of priority):
- Assisting their General Manager with preparing an annual operating budget, setting goals and objectives for each department and monitoring of the departments’ performance.
- Responsible for the hiring and training of staff for the service and parts departments.
- Working with departments to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Creating and maintaining a positive relationship with customers, ensuring that department staff is helpful, as well as making customer satisfaction a priority to ensure referral and repeat business.
- Follow and comply with all federal, state and local regulations that affect operations.
- Working directly with customers and warranty clerks to administer warranty claims, as well as understanding and applying warranty guidelines.
- Ensuring parts and service department sales and operations are performing at peak performance validated by the department scorecards.
- Ensuring that service repairs are performed efficiently and correctly by conducting spot checks on jobs.
- Maintain the profitability of the department while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Regular on-site attendance required.
- Other duties are required and assigned.
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor environment.
- Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Certain positions require employees to spend most of their workday on their feet and to carry heavy and awkwardly sized items. A reasonable level of physical fitness and flexibility is beneficial.
- Able to work extended hours, evenings and weekends to ensure the success of the dealership.
Education, Skills & Knowledge Required:
- A four-year college degree in business administration or marketing is preferred, with focus on mathematics, computers/electronics, diesel equipment service and technology, business and courses that teach analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience as a service advisor or service manager is preferred for the fixed operations manager position.
- Travel, including overnight, will be required occasionally.
