Technicians complete a fully certified, mandated Annual DOT Inspection to ensure your commercial vehicle complies with federal safety regulations. You recieve the required documentation upon passing.

Iowa: Strictly follows the federal standard for all interstate and intrastate vehicles over 10,001 lbs. Any intrastate carrier (operating strictly within Iowa borders) utilizing a vehicle over 26,001 lbs is required to register for an Iowa-specific USDOT number.

Illinois: Mandatory State Safety Lanes: Illinois operates separate, state-mandated inspections that are completely distinct from federal inspections. Commercial trucks over 8,000 lbs and trailers over 5,000 lbs must be driven into a state-licensed “Safety Lane” official testing station twice a year. Passing vehicles are issued a mandatory windshield Certificate of Safety sticker.

Indiana: Requires standard commercial vehicles over 10,001 lbs to complete annual safety checks. However, the state enforces a 6-month (semi-annual) inspection cycle for select specialized commercial fleets, passenger motor buses, and distinct heavy haulers.

Michigan: Adopts federal periodic inspection guidelines but targets them heavily through 14 state-operated weigh stations. All commercial passenger buses operating under a state Certificate of Authority are subjected to rigorous annual safety evaluations directly scheduled and performed by Michigan DOT inspectors. Passing buses receive an official MDOT decal on the driver-side window.

Ohio: Standard commercial vehicles follow the 12-month federal rule. However, Ohio mandates a shortened 6-month safety inspection frequency for commercial trucks transporting placarded hazardous materials.

Wisconsin: Layers a dedicated state-level annual safety inspection mandate directly on top of the default federal requirement. The state enforces highly specific regulations on intrastate passenger transport. Any vehicle designed to carry 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation must pass strict Wisconsin state structural and safety checks to remain operational.
